I can't say enough good things about this place. Found it via the cigars community on Reddit while I was making a day trip to Tampa from Orlando. First off, the man running the place, Steve, was one of the nicest and friendliest people I've ever met. Told me what each cigar in their selection was like, picked out a few for me and a lady friend. We smoked them in the factory while sipping on cuban coffee made in house. The rollers up front were fun to watch, there were tall stacks of cigars and tobacco being cured behind them. The atmosphere felt like I'd left the US for a few minutes. Would go back in a heartbeat. Also- lots of chickens outside, but thats just Ybor. Ask Steve about them, he'll tell you a good story about why there are so many running around. ~ AJ

An interesting experience. The owners were cordial, and was more than willing to explain to us the uninitiated about cigars and showed us around the shop. They were passionate and eager to spread the joy of cigar appreciation. There were workers from Havana who rolled the cigars right in front of us. We watched deferentially until we approached one, and found that they were also enthusiastic, and even let one of us roll a cigar. It has a small espresso bar that makes a great cuban espresso shot which went really well with the cigar we tried. Never knew how well they could go together. The ambience is relaxed, clean, and showed much care from the people running it. We ended up becoming enthused ourselves about the art. It's a great place to stop by, even if you never smoke cigars. ~ YS C

In October 2014 was visiting and found this cigar location that just opened after moving from another location. Bought some Toros went to a little place down the street had a smoke and a beer and went right back and bought another dozen.....but in the confusion of paying left the cigars behind. When I got back to my condo in Clearwater and discovered what I had done called this store and found that they had found my cigars and would hold them until I could get back in a few days! I got back and sure enough, they kept them fresh for me and recognized me when I made another trip to buy more four months later! I love this place and will be back many more times! ~ Chuck T

I first discovered Tabanero while eating at the small Cuban restaurant next door to Yanko's first location. Many tiny cigar shops I've been in have a bunch of stale smokes with a texting teenager behind the counter who has never smoked a cigar, so I wasn't expecting much. I quickly discovered that this shop was truly an undiscovered jewel! Everything was fresh and cigars were being rolled right in front of my eyes. Yanko's passion for cigars shows in everything related to his business, from his location choice in historic Ybor city to his YouTube videos and customer service in his shop. Being from out of town, my experience there was memorable and a highlight of my trip to Tampa. Thankfully I'll be back there soon and look forward to experiencing his new location. I was not physically at the Tabanero Cigar factory. I am merely an internet customer who is completely satisfied. I am a very light cigar smoker, perhaps 3 to 4 sticks a month on average. I found that the Connecticut wrap Robusto is just what I've been looking for. Perfection in the wrap, and the quality long fillers must be what keep it lit for the duration. Couldn't ask for more or better flavor or quality! Plus, they handle the order and shipping extremely expeditiously! I live 2000 miles away and it was literally here in a day and a half. Check out their types and ask if you are not sure of something. They are very helpful. You won't be disappointed, I'm sure. ~ Al S

Visiting from out of town, and had such an amazing experience. Had a cigar and a coffee. The coffee went with the cigar beautifully, the cigar was exquisite, and the couches were a comfort level ten. They were very accommodating when I asked to purchase a full box, and put one together even though they weren’t technically available in a full box yet as it’s a newer cigar. The owner signed the box for me, and they completely sealed it for my travels home. I also purchased one of their awesome rooster paintings. A great value for a locally painted piece of art. HIGHLY recommended by me; a cigar lover at heart. Great people, and a great experience. ~ Gregory D

I visited Tampa about three weeks ago when I accompanied my fiancé for her BAR exam (not gonna miss the opportunity to visit Cigar City). I had the privilege. Of speaking to the owner briefly. He assisted me in providing information about his lanceros and an employee also assisted me in choosing a torpedo. I have to say, out of all the cigar shops in Ybor, Mr. Macedo, you have one of the best if not the best. These cigars had amazing flavor, burned evenly, lit nicely, and had a smooth draw. Tried these on a recommendation From a trusted friend. From the very beginning of the process, communication was stellar! I opted for the sampler pack, which gave me a great chance to see what appealed to me. All choices were extremely well-made and received in great shape and a nice gift packaging. The sampler ran the gamut And as I had anticipated, their medium to full body offerings were absolutely to my liking and more in my wheelhouse and similar to my penchion for full bodied powerhouses (tatuaje, joya de nicaraugua años, master blends, diesel) bht.... the milder offerings in the sampler have a great flavor profile with a more creamy mouth feel and were a definite earlier in the day ootion for myself but would appeal to new smokers and grizzled vets who are looking for a quality stick! Give em a tey for yourself as they have made it super easy and pleasurable to get them directly to your door! ~ Scott W

There are a lot of cigar places in Ybor City but this one is by far our favorite! Atmosphere is super chill - We love that it’s not loud, rowdy, or overly crowded. We can sit and relax on the leather chairs and immerse ourselves in the moment. The cigars are great! They’re wrapped tightly and provide a nice, slow burn with a long ash. We’ve tried a few different ones and have never been disappointed! Service is friendly and helpful. They will even cut and light your cigars for you. Lastly, they serve what is possibly the best coffee in town. Grab a drink, grab a cigar, kick back, and enjoy the moment. Couldn’t ask for more. ~ Anthony C

I haven't had the pleasure to visit in person, but discovered Tabanero from video on YouTube where this lounge was visited. The order only took one week to receive and couldn't wait to light a stick. I'm impressed and thankful for these top shelf cigars. I purchased the robusto/toro for the Nero, and the Maceda Sweet Lips. The Maceda is perfect with the fresh cup of coffee im having 😎. As far as the service, both the order snd shipping along with the quality of these sticks, its five stars ⭐️ for me. I plan to order more for sure, and hopefully visit within the next year. Visiting Tampa and spent the day in this amazing little city. Knowing my brother loves a good cigar, I popped into this little gem of a cigar shop on a whim as we were leaving for the day. Told the gentleman I knew nothing about cigars but wanted to buy a few for my brother. His response was "you don't need to know anything about cigars, you just need to know about your brother". By far one of the best cigar lounges in the area with authentic cigar Cuban cigar rollers. That says a lot seeing that I am very selective on good quality cigars and wine. If you come look for Steve for cigars and look for Dory to set you up with the right cup of coffee or glass of wine to pair with the cigar of your choice.... the ultimate dynamics duo to say the least so come on down and check it out y'all. Great spot in the heart of Cigar City, Centro Ybor Tampa. Laid back tasteful vintage decor lounge w/ comfy leather seats & floor to ceiling windows for looking out/ people watching at Centro Ybor. Staff is friendly, approachable, and knowledgable. Owner is seemingly always here and you can tell has a lot of pride in his place. Cigars are rolled on site and the rollers are front and center of the store constantly rolling cigars by hand for all to see. They have a cuban coffee bar in the back. And oh yeah, the cigars are great too! Definitely a place worth checking out if you're in Ybor ~ Jonathan J

Broke my old cigar ashtray during a recent move, and wanted something at my new house in North Texas that reminded me of my love of the smells and tastes of old Ybor City. I bought this ashtray from Tabanero Cigars on a Tuesday, and it was delivered three days later. It is beautiful (with pictures of the streetcars, hand rollers, and the old factory), and very sturdy. It looks like something right out of Dr. Ferdie Pacheco’s “Ybor Chronicles”! Looking forward to smoking a lot of cigars on my new back porch, and always seeing something from Ybor City! ~ Scott F

Update: Got down to Tabanero last week. The coffee was good. But the staff is outright amazing. I even got time to talk with the man himself. Enjoyed the candela robusto outside while drinking coffee. I’ve said it once I’ll say it again. I will always have Tabanero in my humidor and it will be my go to stick 90% of the time. I had my first Tabanero cigar 7 years ago at cigar city brewing. Since then they’ve been one of my favorite cigar companies. I have bought and will continue to buy cigars for my humidor from Tabanero. Looking forward to another trip to Tampa in April and stopping in. ~ Dwayne M

This is an update on my previous review. I had ordered cigars but not received them. It was a complete failure of the USPS. Tabanero absolutely made it right! They sent out a replacement order via UPS and I received them and they are awesome. Often you don’t get to see how good or bad a company’s customer service is… until there’s a problem. Tabanero as a company and Karen individually were spectacular! The cigars are absolutely fantastic and the customer service is as top notch as any company I’ve ever dealt with. I regret that I can only give 5 stars! They deserve 10!!! ~ herbert k

I've tried your cigars when I was in Florida last year, and was very impressed. I ended up buying a couple hundred dollars worth of them and have to say not one bad apple in the bunch. So I just orded some more and just received them and into the humidor they went.. looking to smoke my first Big Daddy tonight at a local Cigar bar here in Chandler Arizona... I was very pleased with the delivery of my cigars and was pleased with your store in Tampa...if these are anything like the first batch I bought I will be very pleased. Tabanero Cigars is the greatest!!! initially I started my search for a cigar online using amazon but they don't sell cigars. I was looking for a Cigar Dealer Near Pinellas Park Fl and found Tabanero Cigars of Tampa Bay online. I wanted to send my friend who lives in Long Island New York cigar from Tampa. I went on the Tabanero website. The ordering processes was super easy and the cigar was delivered in a few short days. A great place to stop and have a stick. The coffee and cigars are next level. The owners are around and happy to speak with you about the cigars and how they got to where the store is now. I was super impressed with the entire family and it was my favorite stop on my cigar tour of Ybor City. This is a great spot to stop and have a cigar. There is great seating inside and outside. The cigars were from mild to medium and are very well made. My two daughters and I recently went to Tampa for a few days and heard that we had to come to Tabanero Cigars. We were lucky enough to take a tour of the store with Yanko. I must tell you that it was the most memorable moment of our entire trip! The staff at Tabanero are the most hospitable and kind people, and Yanko was extremely knowledgeable about everything related to cigar making. From the authentic cuban coffee to watching the handmaking process, it was truly a wonderful time spent here. Highly recomended! ~ Mirjana S

Just received and transferred a 50 ct bundle to my humidor. I also just sat down with a cold beer and fired one of these up....game changer!. An outstanding cigar for the value point. I've bought from Tabanero for several years, but being an old retired fire chief, I couldn't really afford to buy more than one or two boxes a year. This bundle retains the same great quality and standards of your premium cigars at a great price. I'll still buy my occasional premium torpedoes, but now I get to smoke a great Tabanero all year long. Thanks! ~ Michael R
